Wink Supporting a wide spectrum of dissent

Hi, I'm Middy.

I joined this board for a whole bunch of reasons. Of course love of animals is one. Somehow it's sometimes easier to see the humanity of animals because of the cues that I've subconsciously blocked or repressed in human faces or something. Also New-Left ideology means supporting a wide spectrum of different dissidents even if one or another cause is not exactly the jack-boot on your own throat; the structure of oppression is generic; so re revolutionary tactics, I'm also a member of feminist and new men's, sexual lib and asexuality, environmental and tech, atheist and spiritualist, etc etc discussion groups; maybe I've joined two hundred discussion groups over the past two or three years? This has been a real education for me and helped me to appreciate the varied, and often contradictory, positions of activism.

Kind regards,
- Niki

Hello Middy.

That's an impressive list of causes you support. Keep up the good work! With my limited time, I mainly concentrate on AR because most humans who are oppressed can speak for themselves but other animals can't. As many people as possible are needed to speak for them. Welcome aboard.

Sure, and also oppose. We don't have our ideas right yet as proven by the fact that the World is shit. Alas, imagine how they felt in 10,000BC. 'You've come a long way baby' and still have a long long way to go.

Speaking of speaking... Why animal lib seems so vitally important to me is because it shows some hints out of contract law (AKA capitalism); as I see it, contract: "the word" is the central flaw of Liberalism. Animal rights, together with child lib, and handicap lib are the places to look for taking apart judicious society: very exactly: animals cannot speak: like children and severely disabled, they cannot speak, cannot be legal agents, and obviously cannot contract: therefore animal liberation can only happen in a non-contractual, non-capitalist way.

Yes, ARAs have to pull out the analogy of animals to children and disabled frequently when opponents state that there is no reason to give rights to animals because they can't do anything for us in return. We have to remind them that assigning rights is a choice and that it is not always based on an equal reciprical benefit.

Oh this all is a gold mine of ideas. Let me get back to you in about twenty-seven weeks once I've had a chance to look over all this.

Nice to meet you.
